And while the game's authorities have made a start on changing the culture of the game with more money going into the academy system, the really nasty statistic in English football which needs urgent attention is that just over a third of the Premier League's players are English.

Σχόλιο: Αλήθεια, γίνονται ποτέ τέτοιες συζητήσεις και εφαρμόζονται ποτέ τέτοια (μακρόπνοα) σχέδια στην Ελλάδα; 'Οχι μόνο στο ποδόσφαιρο, αλλά γενικά. Αυτό της νέας Ακαδημίας Ποδοσφαίρου στην Αγγλία (με σκοπό να αλλάξει όλη την κουλτούρα του Αγγλικού ποδοσφαίρου) είναι ένα απλό (σχεδόν απλοϊκό) παράδειγμα αυτού που έγραφα πριν από μερικές μέρες: σκηνο-θετούμε πάντα μόνοι μας και αρνούμαστε πεισματικά να κοιτάξουμε, να επηρεαστούμε και, γιατί όχι, να "κλέψουμε" από τις σκηνοθεσίες των άλλων.
